Track Characteristic Comparison
| J&M Track Characteristics | Competition Track Characteristics | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| ✓ | Industry’s largest footprint-to-weight ratio for minimized compaction | ✓ | Bulky designs with smaller footprints - weigh up to an additional 3,200 lbs |
| ✓ | Easier handling during assembly, transport, and annual maintenance | ✓ | Weighty components require larger lifting equipment whenever handling |
| ✓ | Oil bath hubs with large, shatterproof sight windows for level verification at a glance | ✓ | Grease or oil-bath hubs with little to no lubricant visibility. In muddy conditions, grease hubs require daily greasing |
| ✓ | Synthetic oil in hubs for superior bearing protection and excellent cold weather lubricant flow | ✓ | Conventional oil or grease in hubs yields increased maintenance intervals and poor cold-weather lubricant flow |
| ✓ | Self-lubricated sleeve bearings eliminate the need for routine greasing | ✓ | Pivot locations require daily or weekly greasing or an expensive auto greaser option |
| ✓ | Large coil spring provides active tension without the complication of hydraulics (no adjustment needed) | ✓ | Hydraulic tensioner adds unnecessary complexity and requires additional operator diligence |
| ✓ | Sleek design leaves few places for mud and debris to settle | ✓ | Shields and/or large flat areas accumulate mud and debris |
| ✓ | Upper rollers limit unwanted belt movement across upper span | ✓ | Large, unsupported upper belt span prone to unsightly belt floppiness |
| ✓ | Uniform bogie wheel spacing and low pivot locations permit smoother movement over obstacles | ✓ | Narrow bogie wheel spacing and elevated pivot locations cause rougher pivoting motion |

Stabilizer Trax2 System
Longer Tank Life... Less Maintenance
The industry’s premier track offering, J&M’s Stabilizer tracks include all the great features found on J&M’s standard tracks plus J&M’s patented track suspension system.
- Rubber spring suspension and independently pivoting bogie wheels The rubber spring suspension and pivoting bogies result in 3× less tank vibration, creating a smoother ride that greatly extends the cart life.
- Load adjusted end wheel height The end wheels are raised under light or no load to reduce tread wear, require less turning force, and to climb over uneven terrain more easily. As load is increased, the end wheels lower to utilize the entire track footprint, minimizing compaction.
- Completely revamped wheel components Stabilizer Trax 2 have the strongest bearing sets in the industry and even larger sight windows for checking oil level.
Reduced Vibration
- Suspension system utilizes rubber springs resulting in 3× less vibration than other track systems and similar vibration to an implement on tires.
- Reduced vibration results in longer cart life and a smoother ride.
The Graph above shows the reduced vibration performance of the Stabilizer Trax2 suspension system compared to other track systems and tires. The Stabilizer Trax2 results are very similar to a tire.
STX2 More Features
1Tensioner
A single, large‑diameter compression spring provides active tension for the track belt. The spring tensioner requires no daily adjustment, eliminating the hassle of hydraulic or other tension systems.
2Oil Bath Hubs
Oil bath hubs utilize synthetic oil for superior bearing protection and excellent lubricant flow, even in the coldest weather. There is no need for constant greasing of hubs. Multi-lip cassette seals with separate seal guards provide better sealing under the harshest conditions. Large sight windows make checking the oil level a breeze, even from a distance.
3Self-Lubricated Sleeve Bearings
All pivots and bogie rollers utilize self-lubricated sleeve bearings, requiring no daily greasing.
4Rubber Springs
Rubber springs and pivoting bogies significantly reduce tank shock loads and vibration while providing more uniform ground contact over uneven terrain. Each bogie pair can pivot 14° front‑to‑back and 7° side‑to‑side, reducing stress on the belt, wheels and hubs.
5Swivel Hitch Alignment
The convenient alignment mechanism uses two bolts for adjustment and is accessible from each side of the cart. Two steel keepers prevent loosening during operation.
6Undercarriage Beam
Constructed from high‑strength plate steel, the undercarriage beam provides superior strength at a reduced weight. The sleek design stays cleaner with minimized locations for mud buildup.
7Upper Roller
Upper roller keeps tension on the belt and reduces belt flop.
Raised End Wheels
- End wheels remain up when cart is empty for reduced belt wear during transport and easier running.
- End wheels move down when cart is under load for maximum flotation.
- Raised end wheels easily climb over obstacles and make turning easier than traditional tracks.
Independently Suspended, Oscillating Bogie Wheels
- Independently suspended bogie wheels oscillate 14° front to back and 7° side-to-side to supply more uniform ground contact.
- Belt tension spikes are minimized, increasing bearing life.
Options
Mud Scrapers
Remove buildup from track wheels
- Scrapes both endwheels and bogie wheels; 24 total scrapers!
- Competitor designs scrape just the end wheels, leaving bogie wheels vulnerable to buildup
- Clean wheels promote proper belt tension and track alignment
- Eliminates tension spikes occuring from excess buildup, reducing stress on track components
- Prevents lug wear due to buildup which can cause misalignment
Superior Angled Design
- Scrapers deflect buildup away from the wheel path towards the outside of the track
- The scraping angle provides a longer scraping surface, enhancing scraper wear
- Angled scrapers engagement reduces scraper chatter against wheels for more consistent scraping action
Two-Piece Scraper Design
The top portion of the scraper is steel, while the bottom portion is UHMW. This increases performance by providing a more uniform clamping force throughout the scraper and reducing the scraping load on the UHMW portion. Most debris hits the steel cap, preventing contact with the UHMW for all but the smaller buildup.
V4 Track System
V4 MT (36"×119") or V4 (36"×139")
J&M’s V4 track design features optimized geometry that utilizes a larger footprint for minimal compaction. Uniform spacing of the bogie wheels also helps reduce compaction. The improved spring tensioner requires less maintenance and creates a more uniform footprint that reduces rolling resistance. Unlike bronze bushings that require periodic greasing throughout the harvest season, V4 tracks utilize composite sleeve bushings. A single greasing before harvest can last the entire season and maximize the life and performance of the track.
